A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it – Marcus Aurelius
This is a quote straight out of stoic philosophy, by one of the greats, Marcus Aurelius. He was at one point the ruler of the Roman Empire, arguably one of the greatest in the world at its peak.
Anyways, the quote stands strong alone, without the backing of who wrote it. For me, it means that in ALL that I do, I do it to the same standard as I do anything. If I give 10% in this, I’ll give 10% in that. How you do anything, is how you do everything, and if your thoughts have gravitated towards anything, then that’s what will be top of mind.
That’s why diets don’t work, because people lose focus on being healthy and happy, and miss the protection of comfort foods. It becomes too hard to bear. I know, tI cannot overcome the strength and force of my subconscious.
Your subconscious will always try and prove your inner thoughts correct, even if you know they are wrong. Personally, I struggle with eating extra food when I know I’m not supposed to, for wrestling. I think of my mind being in either 6th gear, or fully stopped, a thought I stole from Tim Ferris. I’m a mind focused guy, I cannot override what I’m thinking so I put in my Laws in the morning, paired with my time with God, and that sets my day straight. Then I can conquer anything.
